Tomorrow evening at around 6pm I can finally say to myself, wow, I just survived my first semester of college. It's crazy to think how fast it went by. I have to get a B on my biology final tomorrow in order to pass the class. I really hope I can pull it off. I've been studying non stop for that class for a week. I seriously don't think i've ever studied for a class that much in my entire life. I better get that B. After I take my exam I will hop into the van and drive home for three solid weeks. I really don't want to leave though. I'm very content with my living arrangements. I have great friends from high school here, I have my cello cult, I have a new friend from my bio lab who i'm in love with, and I have my amazing roomate. I probably could not ask for anything more except maybe a companion which I do not have to call my friend.

I went to my cello teachers house Monday night for an end of semester party. We met his wife and children and went sledding in his backyard. It was very nice just being able to chill with him outside of the formal school atmosphere. Plus Garret drove our cello cult and we listened to Tonio's awesome jams. I never knew it but Kanye totally took all of the digital "faster, stronger" stuff from Daft Punk. So I went to iTunes and bought the Daft Punk cd and it is amazing. It's my new dance mix. I'm also mildly obsessed with Girl Talk. And Superbad.

I don't have very high hopes for this break. If it's anything like the last break where most of my friends were too busy to hang out with me then it's really going to suck. I really want there to be a ton of scenics rehearsals but after my conversation with Nick tonight I highly doubt that it's going to happen. I decided to go up north with my parents for new years because I already know that I would get more out of it than sitting at home. I'm going to learn my cello pieces and knit Kaleigh's boyfriends scarf. Those are my goals. Anything else that happens will just be a bonus.

But looking on the brightside: after tomorrow, no more bio, no more bio! hurray!!!!!!!!

There is nothing better than weekends at Grand Valley. Everyone goes home or to other colleges and all that is left on this quiet, empty campus is me and my friends. The practice rooms are open, the air smells of approaching winter, the leaves are full of dimished cholorphyll and fall in my hair as i walk quicky to class. My cello playing, guitar playing, singing, and keyboarding is improving empecably. However, my love life is dwindling faster than you can say Whore Horse. My roomate is being injected with more vaccines and medications for her new job then i could have ever imagined. I'm afraid she might explode with hep B fluids. "My mother didn't believe in vaccines. I got my small-pox the old fashioned way and I survived. Beat that hospitals." I never thought that i could fall in love with a television show as much as i have fallen in love with The Office.

I need a new pair of boots, I need to stop eating cheez-its, dresses are no longer appropriate due to the weather, I HATE doing laundry, I still have two thank you notes to write from my graduation party, we don't take enough pictures, and worst of all; he doesn't even like me.

I got a haircut. I have an emo swoop. And i have a nose ring. It's silver and 'IN YOUR FACE'. My sight singing teacher, Chuck Norris (yes, i swear, that's his real name) said that i was Spunky and Awesome. I love that man.

I wish that I had new music on my computer. As much as I'm in love with the new Radiohead cd, i really need more.

I'm starting to really get settled into a routine here. I love my roomate, my friends, my teachers, classes... It's been a really good experience so far. I'm learning how comfortable I am being on my own and how comfortable friendships can feel even though I may not want them. When is it better to have a relationship with someone and when is it better to just stay friends? I need to find that out soon. And I need to stop being comfortable with just being friends. I have enough guy friends, it's time for a change.

So all the hype of the last 13 years is finally here. I'm actually at college. I moved into my dorm yesterday, stacked my loft, unpacked all of my stuff, met my really awesome roomate who i think i'm really going to get along with, said goodbye to my parents, met some sweet people on my floor, and finally laid my head to rest on my bed. I've been waiting 10 weeks to have a bedroom again. 10 weeks to unpack my things and sleep in my own bed. 10 weeks of waiting, waiting, waiting, and it's here. The Grand Valley campus is the most gorgeous campus I have ever seen in my entire life and I feel so lucky to be here. I got my books and even though i'm a loser for saying this, i cannot wait to open them and consume their knowledge. However, I'm dissapointed with my biology book. It's the exact same book that i had to use for AP bio Junior year. GAH I don't want to read the same book again! Just thinking about all the hours that i have already spent with my nose stuck in that awful book just kills me. Oh well, atleast this class is only one semester. Then chemistry... gross. I'm interested to see how my music classes pan out. I wonder if they are going to be challenging or just a waste of time. I hate just sitting around waiting to find something to do. I want to go next door and meet more people but i'm actually really shy about it. Oh well...we have all year to get to know each other.

Today i'm going to get my scheduling conflict fixed, go to lunch with my roomate, and take my bike and attempt to get lost on campus. It should be a fun day.

thank god the weather is beautiful. Yesterday morning I laid out in the sun, in the afternoon i went rollerblading with beth and rachel barth stopped by and we played 2 square. In the evening i went shopping with natalie and i got some really sweet jewlery on sale at Express. CPK for dinner was amazing. Bread/Salad/Pizza/Lemonade and having it all to share with Natalie, it was probably the best meal i've had in a very, very long time.

So yesterday I was woken up by my dad in my face telling me to read and sign the following document:

It's that time...the very last stretch of my high school career. cha-ching! School does not matter to me right now. All I can think of is Interlochen and College. Over break I went up to Grand Valley and had my first cello lesson with their professor. He is such an amazing musician and teacher. I learned so much in just that one hour. But the best part was when I found out that he only accepted three cellists this year into the music program. And I was one of them. THREE. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. When I got home yesterday there were two letters for me. One was from Michigan State so said that I was accepted into their school. Which i'm very happy about but i dont' care because i'm going to Grand Valley and the other letter was the most exciting one of all...

While i'm waiting for my mom to finish editing my really crappy PA paper, i'll update.

We had a Scenics show last weekend at Nick's piano recital. We played really well and all but we hadn't realized that it was also an oboe recital. We sat through atleast 13 oboe solos....Billy and I were dying during a few of them. But we stayed because there was food afterwards. Plus Nick (acutally nick's mom) got Julie and myself each a bouquet of roses. It was so sweet of them. They are currently in a vase on my dinning room table. I hope we get to play in battle of the bands. That would be so kick ass. Battle of the band is the day before the Contemporary Institute of Arts Festival. It would be a fantastic Scenics-filled weekend.

I'm hoping that this is going to be a good spring break. I'm not going anywhere but neither are most of my friends. Plus I have to babysit David tuesday, wednesday, and thursday next week while my parents are at work. It's good though because I need to spend some time with David before I graduate. I just feel so guilty about leaving him all summer and then all next year.

This past week has been crazy. Infact, these past few weeks have been like that. No homework, lots of crazy weather changes, friends, lovers, leos, lack of Scenics, cello, cello, and more cello...

Last night i decided to drive to A2 to visit Noah. It was a wonderful night but it left me thinking about a lot of things. Then today i woke up to my mom yelling at me to get a haircut so i did and then it was off to orchestra festival. I was very thankful to have Julia with me because i needed to vent and i needed Julia to help straighten some things out for me. Orchestra festival was amazing. we went in there thinking that we were going to for sure get straight 2's but instead we walked out with Straight 1's. It was a terrific feeling and i cannot be more proud of my orchestra than i am today. We really stepped up our game and worked our asses off and it showed. I cannot wait for states. Jack is going to be so excited when he finds out he can go to his first state festvial.

After festival i rushed back home, changed, and headed to Rachel's birthday party which was so much fun. Our team won and i was stoked about it. I miss birthday parties.

Tomorrow is the big St. Patties day parade/brunch with the Pellerito fam. i'm very excited seeing as st. patties day is my favorite holiday. Time to crank out the green. I cannot wait to spend the day with Mia Sophia! I guess i should get some sleep, let my mind rest. I've been so stressed today it's time for a break.

I'm home! What an awful flight i had coming home... Delays Delays Delays...Terminal mixups, CANCELLED FLIGHTS?!?!, nope, not cancelled, evil Alma college UN students, turbulance, no water, exhaustion, baggage claim, hot chocolate, cold weather, snow, ice ice ice, iPod, hangover.

California was amazing and I miss it already. I need to go Ghost Ride the Whip. The weather here is shitty and I have so much homework to do. But what am i doing? talking to Noah. of course. damnit emmy, get on track.... Anyways, I went to UC Davis to visit my cousin Andrew. It was amazing! I "prepared for college" which may not have been a logical idea seeing as i had to drive back to Los Altos four hours later....but it was oh, so worth it. Andrew even left me some suvineers in my backpack. Meaning, some bottle caps.

School tomorrow...gross. We better have a Scenics rehearsal soon. I miss it.

Snowless Wonderland

Greetings from sunny California.

The weather here is beautiful and although my relitives claim that it is freezing, it's actually quite warm. My flight was hectic and long but all worth it. I love it here; my cousins, the weather, the beautiful back-drops, the food, the people, the air. It's all good. I've already tried many new foods which if you know me and know that I am the world pickiest and plainest eater, you would be impressed. IN-N-OUT burger is amazing!! I'm buying a t-shirt. Today i went to an antique store on the way back from the beach and i bought two kick ass necklaces. I love them and i cannot wait to show them off. This is going to be an amazing week. Time to go play video games and hit the town...

Highlights from the past week which i forgot to share:
-The TRI-M concert was fantastic and we are planning on having another one this year unless there are objections from the members
-Scenics rehearsals have come to a halt and we must change that.
-My Interlochen phone interview was today and it went very well. I am most definately going to be hired.

I like popping purple pills and yelling in Arabic btw.

Cold Days

The Berkley School District had officially gone crazy. Snow day? no way, Cold Days. Julia and i were stunned when we showed up for school today and saw the empty parking lot. That's what you get for having parents who don't watch or listen to the news. I now have three extra days to study for my calculus exam and an extra day to study for ap psych. The Tri-M to-do list is short but now I will have time tomorrow to get everything done. And i get to practice Julia's trio with her and Beth. Julia wrote the most kick ass peice and i'm stoked to perform it at the Tri-M concert next monday.

Solo and Ensomble rocked. I performed in three events and i got straight 1's on all of them. I'm so proud of my quintet for putting in the extra effort to practice, we kicked ass. And we'll be even better at states in march.

Scenics is still amazing, but I wish we would have another show soon. I miss performing! I talked to Mr. Lopiccalo about the education school at Grand Valley and I decided to double major. I'm going to be majoring in not only biology education but music education as well. I am very happy with this decision and I know that for me, it is the right one. Now I need to call GVSU Admissions and let them know so i can audition for their music school.

So many things to do....

Oakland Youth Orchestra and Homework just may be the the death of me. However, listening to the new Shins CD and the Scenics Live Album is really helping me move along.

"starry eyed suprise!" is what is yelled right at the beginning of our CD by some drunk person the audience. I love it.

there is no place i'd rather be right now than practicing with Scenics. but unfortunately, berkley's scattering power-outages have not allowed this to happen. So many things have happened this past week and I feel that time is just flying by.

+++Variety Show- i played really well. i had so many parents, faculty, and students come up to me and compliment me on my solo and on Scenics. they have no idea what that ment to me. I loved playing with Scenics and i know that our show tomorrow is going to be even better.
+The Swim-a-Thon- it was a lot of fun but i was dissapointed that we didnt' get to watch snakes on a plane.

Maybe i'll have time this weekend to watch it. I hope we have another show after tomorrow, because i want to keep having regular rehearsals. AHHH. I should stop now, the only person who understands is Julie.

Where is my snow? Up North was lame due to it's dissapearence and now my hopes of sleeding have come to a crashing halt. I miss snow, even if it means driving in slippery and dangerous conditions, i love the white residue on my hair, the way it looks on my front lawn at 3 am, and how I feel just walking through it. Oh snow, please come back!

This week is going to be crazy. I have variety show up the wazoo. Monday - dress rehersal at 3:30, tuesday - seminar show, wednesday - night time show. Thursday is another OYO rehersal and then Friday is my favorite day of the year...The swim-a-thon!!! I'm pumped. You all should go to the variety show though...because it's going to be sweet. I'm playing some cello solo and then i'm playing with nick maher's band Scenics. I went to Nick's house yesterday for a rehersal with Nick, Billy, Rob, and Brandon. It was so cool! We all met in Nick's basement and jammed. We even imporovised a song so that we would combine the ending of one with another. I just can't believe that they choose me to play with them. I feel so honored.

I bought my pick-up today. It's this small input that attaches to my cello and runs a chord to an amplifier so my cello can be well...amplified! It's so sweet!!! I love my cello. I am thankful for cello, cool uncles who allow secret mia sophia visits instead of orchestra, band mates who inspire me to pursue a musical career, boys who remain friends, ~~chior teachers who think i am incapable of conducing~~, and my brother who's birthday is tomorrow. happy 11th birthday david.

Oh Seven!

So the year 2007 has finally come. The year that seemed like light-years away, the year that will be the most memorable year of my teenage life. In 153 days I will be walking across the stage at medowbrook accepting the small peice of paper of which i've worked my ass off the past 12 years to get. It seems like just yesterday i was attending 5th grade mix-em or taking performance class with mr. lyskowa or even super glueing coins to the floor outside the LMC to see how "jewish" people were. All of these things will finaly come to an end in just 149 days when I walk out of that school for the final time. But don't get me wrong, I'm excited for the next part of my life to begin. The confusions about my summer plans and my worries about whether or not the roomate i love will attend GVSU will both be confirmed and I will finally be able to sleep at night.

I'm not one to make new years resolutions because i know i never keep them but after re-re-reading my train letters from camp i've decided to make just one. She said that i was her role model, that I wake up every day wondering how i can make it better than it already is, that i'm eager to please and happy be to alive. The final thought was for me to never lose my enthusiasm. I feel that this school year I have not been living up to my full potential, that I have been lacking in those trait departments. So my near years resolution is to live up to her advice and make my world and everyone elses a much more enjoyable one.

Lets start this new years on a good note, with me actually studying for an AP psych quiz and doing my calculus homework...stupid CASA, starting a day early...

well this has been a successful christmas once again. This time, no one got sick, none of our family memebers left the christmas dinner crying, and everyone got what they wanted. My gifts included

-Plane ticket to california for February 17-24!!!
-A picture of a new cello case (it's on backorder and won't be here until february)

-Plates/Cups/Bowls from crate and barrel so when i get an apartment i'll have stuff to eat off of
-a starbucks gift card from my brother

-lots and lots of make-up from my aunt

-a GVSU notepad
-a letter saying that my cell phone was going to die at the beginning of the year 2007. i guess i need to look for a new phone

Last night was the much needed Interlochen Christmakuh Bash '06. The night was filled with friends, food, apples to apples, kid wine, collapsed gingerbread houses, waskeburt, enya, swords, and myspace movies. I could not have asked for a better night. It's so rare that i get to spend the evening with my interlochen friends because they all live so far away. I really miss them and i'm very glad that everyone made it.
